Always entrepreneurs, Irene and Loren Leng decided to close The Shore Movie Theater and follow a new passion. In the spring of 1961, the couple traveled to European trade shows searching out unique, international wares for their new giftshop - The Market of Grand Marais. For the next 40 years, you’d find Irene and Loren behind the counter at The Market, which is a cornerstone on the east end of the Leng Building.

Irene and Loren's daughter, Elizabeth, along with her husband Joe Schroeder have continued the tradition. Every winter, they walk the trade shows across the country searching for the unique and unusual. The journey continues………..
